History

Willow Brook Events Center is situated on Willow Brook Farms which spans the towns of Northampton and Catasauqua, Pennsylvania. James Wheeler Fuller III, also known as Colonel Fuller (1873 - 1929) had the vision to acquire and merge several farms in the area, eventually ending up with close to 1800 acres where he came to reside and pursue his dream of having some of the finest horses in the country. Colonel Fuller is known as an American industrialist whose Fuller Company (1926) manufactured conveyor belts used in the cement production process and created the Fuller-Kinyon pump, still used in the modern cement industry today. Willow Brook Farms possesses a historic lime kiln that was used to make lime from an on-site limestone quarry in the 19th century.

Colonel Fuller’s son, C.T. Fuller (1919- 2011), grew up doing chores on horseback on the family’s estate farm. After serving in World War II and earning a college education, Fuller returned to the family estate, named Willow Brook, with his wife Alexandra and their three children. As a professional, Fuller bred horses, like his father before, and integrated his equine passions into a career as a journalist and photographer. In 1995, his famed stallion, Joe Cody, was inducted into the American Quarter Horse and National Reigning Horse Halls of Fame; in 2001, C. T. Fuller himself was inducted into the AQHA Hall of Fame.

C.T.’s only son, Peter Fuller (b. 1950), rekindled his connection with horses that he forged growing up at Willow Brook after a visit to his sister Holly’s ranch in Aspen, Colorado in the late 1980s where he discovered a love for the sport of team roping. Peter brought team roping and rodeo events to Willow Brook in the early 1990’s and became a champion in his sport, winning local and national buckles as a heeler. Peter Fuller joined his father as manager of Willow Brook in 1985. Later on, he made a Natural Horsemanship Center at Willow Brook, establishing himself as a high level instructor in the style of “horse whispering.” Continuing to compete as a horseman, he won the Atlantic Reined Cow Horse Limited Open in 2009 and 2010.

The Fuller family now brings the vision of a new generation to Willow Brook with the creation of The Willow Brook Special Event Center. They are pleased that through this venture, their family’s land will be available to be enjoyed by more people and for more generations to come.
